Speech and Language Assessment

An assessment is conducted before an intervention begins.

 

Either a formal or an informal assessment will be conducted to assess the child's current performance level in speech and language development.

Duration of assessment may vary depending on the concerns for the child and the child's motivation (starting from 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes).

​

The areas that will be assessed majorly include, 

• the child's understanding of language and,

• the child's use of language.

​​

Other areas that are assessed involve,

• pronunciation of sounds and words (articulation),

• fluency,

• resonance,

• voice, 

• social use of language (pragmatics).
